Santhanam Talks About Simbu And How STR's Birthday Is Special For Him Now

Comedian-turned-hero Santhanam is enjoying his dream run as a lead actor in Kollywood. After the successes of Inimey Ippadidhan and Dhilluku Dhuddu, Santhanam joined the league of A-listers in the industry and even bagged a huge project like Mannavan Vandhaanadi helmed by Selvaraghavan.

However, he is more excited as the teaser of his much-awaited Server Sundaram will be launched by his mentor and friend Simbu today. “It is not about the timing of the release. The fact that Simbu is releasing Server Sundaram’s teaser on his birthday has made it more special. I couldn’t have asked for anything better,” he says.

Before entering films, Santhanam was popular among the audience for Lollu Sabha. The actor got his first break with Simbu’s Manmadhan in 2004. The duo also shared screen space in movies like Vallavan, Kaalai, Silambattam and Vaanam among others. Looking back at their association, Santhanam, says, “That’s is why I call him my mentor. He was always there for me and gave a huge boost to my career. The bond I share with Simbu is very special; from the times of Manmadhan till date we have been absolutely honest with each other about everything. We have tried to blance our offscreen friendship with professionalism required while shooting for films. Without a second thought, he even readily agreed to compose music for my next film Sakka Podu Podu Raja.”

Talking about the teaser of Server Sundaram, he says, “The teaser will tell the audience how entertaining the movie will be. There are no punch dialogues or action sequences in the teaser. The film is a light-hearted entertainer and the teaser will definitely raise the expectations of the audience.”

The movie has Vaibhavi Shandilya playing the female lead and she will team up with Santhanam again for Sakka Podu Podu Raja. Santhanam says that, the team has worked really hard to come up with Server Sundaram. “We shot across back-to-back schedules in various locations. We also shot rigorous stunt sequences in Dubai and they have shaped really well. If not in the teaser, the audience will get to watch the film and realise what all went into making it,” he says.

On a concluding note, he says, “I am currently shooting for Sakka Podu Podu Raja, that is directed by Sethu and produced by my good friend VTV Ganesh. I will start shooting for the second schedule of Mannavan Vandhaanadi by the middle of this month.”
