Actor Nithin Sathya Takes A Leap Of Faith
From doing minor yet pivotal roles alongside Kamal Haasan in Vasool Raja, and Ajith in Ji , Actor Nithin Sathya shot to fame with a negative role in Satham Podathey. He later went on to create an impact playing one of the lead roles in Chennai 600028. The actor now gears up for yet another new role as he turns producer with his home banner Shvedh.
“When I look back at my career of over 13 years, the journey has been very motivating. I started off as a character artiste and then a villain before finally playing the lead protagonist. One good thing about cinema is that it offers you something different to explore every day. There are so many avenues one can experiment in. That is what inspired me to become a producer,” says Nithin.
Talking about his debut project which has his “good friend” Jai, Nithin says, “Jai and I have been friends for a decade now. So, there was a certain comfort level on the sets. Having said that, it wasn’t any different with Robo Shankar. He’s a delight to work with.”
Speaking about roping in the rest of the cast, he says, “We brought National award-winning editor Praveen KL on board for the project, while Reba Monica John of Jacobinte Swargarajyam fame plays the female lead. The director of this film, Pitchumani, has been an associate of Venkat Prabhu since Chennai 600028 days.” Nithin also adds that as a producer he looks forward to nurturing talents.
“That is the ultimate satisfaction one can get from being a producer. I had no second thoughts in introducing Pitchumani as a director. We have completed 25 per cent of the film, which will be completely shot in Chennai. The next schedule is all set to roll in a week’s time and will go on till the end of this month,” he adds.
Considering the rough phase the film industry has been going through, was there any apprehension to venture into production at this stage? “There will be hurdles but that shouldn’t deter any of us. There will be strikes, GST issues and theatre shutdowns. But cinema is a big ocean that everyone looks to dive into irrespective of the weather. It’s like taking a leap of faith.”
On the acting front, Nithin says that he has listened to a couple of scripts and will be signing those projects soon.
