Govt has no secrete detention centers: President assures families of missing

President Maithripala Sirisena held a discussion with the family members of missing persons at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday (16). 

During this meeting, they presented their issues and demands to the President in detail, the President’s Media Division said.

President Sirisena said that he has a clear understanding regarding the issues faced by each community in this country, and said that the government including himself is committed to provide solutions to those issues in a very open and fair manner.

Vaiko urges UN to find out truth of missing persons in Sri Lanka

General Secretary of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon who is going to pay a visit to Sri Lanka this week should take measures to find out truth about the missing or voluntarily disappeared during the war time in Sri Lanka, said Vai Gopalsamy, also known as Vaiko, the founder and General Secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu.

Releasing a statement he stated that 150,000 people were killed during the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka, adding that the oppression against Tamil People continue even after the war ended.
