LTTE Members Working as a Network

President Maithiripala Sirisena said that some abroad living LTTE supporters are still trying to make sure the dream of making Tamil Eelam.

He stated it while addressing at the Narahepita hospital yesterday.

He further complained, that some LTTE involved people who are living out of Sri Lanka are being as a network even after the war has defeated. They collect money in various ways and trying to form the country, called Eelam, he said.

Also requested that the people should join together in order to break out the move of the abou mention people.

SL Army chief expressed readiness to share experiences with LTTE

Sri Lankan Army chief Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayake said, as he expressed readiness to share with others the experiences learned from the three-decade long war with the LTTE.

He said while speaking at the seventh ‘Colombo Defense Seminar – 2017’, inaugurated by President Maithripala Sirisena at BMICH yesterday (Monday).

He further said, “a three-decade long terrorist problem that ended in 2009 after wipe-out of one of the most ruthless terrorist organisations that prevailed one time in the world .

The Sri Lankan Army is concerned about the re-emergence of violence in the country, Army chief Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayake said today as he expressed readiness to share with others the experiences learned from the three-decade long war with the LTTE. “The Sri Lankan Army is a proud military to have done its duty in liberating the motherland from the clutches of dreadful terrorism,” he said while speaking at the seventh ‘Colombo Defense Seminar – 2017’ here, inaugurated by President Maithripala Sirisena.

Black Tiger cap found in Mullivaikkal


Black Tiger cap found in Mullivaikkal

A cap, used to be worn by members of black tiger wing of LTTE was found on the westerm shore of Mullivaikkal.

Heavy fights broke out between Srilankan armed forces and LTTE during the final stages of Eelam war in May 2009 and remnanats of the war including uniforms, rounds of ammunition and video footages, at times show up at the shoreline.

It seems like, a few days ago a black tiger cap was found at the western shoreline. A cap used by Srilankan navy sailor was also found.

A Division Bench comprising Justice A Selvam and Justice P Kalaiyarasan before whom the matter has come up on recording the submission made by the State posted the case for further hearing to October 3.

It may be noted that the case has been pending since 2012 when the duo moved the plea wanting to find whether their names figure in the list of convicts due for premature release on Republic day.

Ex-LTTErs start hunger strike at Anuradhapura Prison

Three ex-LTTE carders held in remand at the Anuradhapura Prison had commenced a hunger strike since this morning urging authorities to expedite their court case, officials said.

“The three detainees had refused to take breakfast and urge the authorities expedite their court cases filed in the Vavuniya Court to be taken for hearing,” an official said.

He said at least 20 LTTE members were held in remand at the Anuradhapura Prison.

It was reported that the remaining LTTErs would also to join the hunger strike.

Unexploded Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam mortar shells uncovered in Mannar

7 unexploded motor shells and several other weapons utilized by the LTTE were discovered at an abandoned LTTE outpost in the outskirts of the Manthai West divisional secretariat area in Mannar today (4)

Officials from the Adampan Police stated that they were able to recover the explosives from intelligence provided by the Air Force. It was reported that 04, 81mm mortar shells and 03, 60mm mortar shells were recovered from the outpost. 

The police also reported that the bomb the diffused by the Army Bomb Disposal squadron under the decision made by the Mannar Magistrate.
