The tussle between the Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) and the Film Employees' Federation of South India (FEFSI), which resulted in the latter calling for a strike from August 1, led to the cancellation of many film productions in Kollywood. While films of Rajinikanth, Sivakarthikeyan, Vijay Sethupathi, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Arulnithi were among those affected on Day 1 of the strike, Vishal's Thupparivalan and Sasikumar's Kodiveeran were among the few films whose shoot did not get stalled.

Film Employees Federation of South India threatens to go on strike from August 1

RK Selvamani, president of FEFSI, said, “We have requested for a new book which will have a fixed salary for workers. While this was to be decided on July 19, we couldn’t arrive at a conclusion due to lack of support from Producers’ Council. If we don’t get a reply for our demands on wages and hiring of workers from other states, FEFSI will go on strike from Tuesday. Reacting to it, Vishal said, “There will be no change in our stand. We will continue to work without the support of FEFSI.”
