Arrest warrant against 8 Tamil actors

A Nilgiris Court today issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against seven actors and an actress in connection with a defamatory case registered in 2009.

The warrant has been issued against Suriya, Sarath Kumar, Sathyaraj, Cheran, Vivek, Vijayakumar, Arun Vijay and Sripriya A vernacular daily published a news regarding actresses in 2009.

This triggered uproar in film industry and many actors and actresses condemned the journalists and staged protests. They also made defamatory speeches against them.

In the year 2009, during a Nadigar Sangam meeting Sathyaraj, Sarathkumar, Sri Priya, Vivek, Suriya, Vijay Kumar, Arun Vijay and Cheran apparently made derogatory remarks against news reporters. One Rozario filed a case in the Nilgiris Criminal Court against the eight actors.

The case had seen many hearings, but none of the eight actors appeared before the court and today the 23rd of May the same happened. Judge Senthilkumar Rajavel has issued non bailable arrest warrants against all the eight actors.

Vijay Sethupathi's confirmation about film with Cheran

Media was the first to break the news that the versatile star Vijay Sethupathi will be acting in a film directed by Cheran who has given many memorable flicks like 'Bharathi Kannamma', 'Vetrikodi Kattu', 'Autograph' and 'Thavamai Thavamirundhu'.

Now Vijay Sethupathi himself has confirmed the same in his recent interview to an online news portal. The 'Dharmadurai' star has said he is doing a film with Cheran since he liked the story narrated by the latter.

According to information we get from sources, actor Vijay Sethupathi has given his nod to team up with veteran director Cheran famous for the National award winning film 'Autograph'. Cheran is also famous as a hero artist.

Cheran's last release as a director was 'JK Enum Nanbanin Vazhkai' which was released through a new scheme called C2H, where the DVDs were delivered at the homes of movie buffs at a cost of Rs.50. 

Now the director is likely to make a comeback after two years with a film which will have Vijay Sethupathi in the lead.

Cheran clarifies on his Eelam comments

Following backlash that he received for his comments against Eelam Tamils, actor-director Cheran issued an clarification.
