Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal has left English county Essex after just one match for personal reasons the club revealed.

The 28-year-old — Bangladesh’s highest international run scorer with more than 10,000 to his name in all forms of the game — signed only last week for an eight game stint in the T20 Blast county competition.

Tamim appeared in Sunday’s seven-wicket loss to Kent but on Tuesday Essex released a statement saying his stay was over.

Eoin Morgan, Joe Root take England to big win

England beat India by seven wickets in the first of the three match T20 series at Kanpur. Skipper Eoin Morgan and Joe Root set up the victory for the visitors in front of a rather subdued crowd at the Green Park stadium.

Virat Kohli opened for India alongwith KL Rahul and the put together 34 runs in the first four overs before the latter was dismissed. Kohli was soon to depart in the seventh over having put 29 runs off 26 balls on the board.

Sabbir named in Bangladesh Test squad

Sabbir named,

Bangladesh have made six changes to their squad for the first Test against England at Chittagong, starting on October 20, with the batsman Sabbir Rahman a notable inclusion following his performances in the ODI series earlier this month.

Rahman, who has played 29 ODIs and 26 T20Is but has yet to make his Test debut, made 49 from 46 in the third ODI at Chittagong, having been fined 20 percent of his match fee for his run-in with England's stand-in captain, Jos Buttler, in the previous match in Dhaka.
