Dengue to be eradicated from Trinco. in two weeks


The Health Ministry has stated that the Dengue epidemic, affecting the residents in the Trincomalee district, will be under control within the next two weeks. 

The doctor in charge of the eradication of Dengue, Dr. N. Saravanabavan stated that steps have been taken to eradicate the vector and virus, even to this day.  Around 3500 dengue patients have been admitted to the Kinniya, Trincomalee,Uppuweli and Mathura hospitals, while 15 have been reported dead, as a result of the virus.

ISIS terrorist attacks thwarted in Moscow, 4 arrested – FSB


 The Federal Security Service (FSB) has foiled a series of terrorist attacks in Moscow by a group of foreign fighters, who were directed by an Islamic State-affiliate based in Turkey, the Russian agency reported.

 

The group “included several Tajikistan nationals and a Moldovan national and plotted a series of high-profile terrorist attacks in Moscow involving the detonation of powerful improvised explosive devices,” the FSB report released on Thursday said.

On Line Of Control, Army Ready For Any 'Eventuality' Post Surgical Strikes


With spurt in ceasefire violations by Pakistan after India's surgical strikes targeting terror camps, the Army on Monday said that its "guard is up" along the Line of Control or LoC to reply to any eventuality, including Border Action Team or BAT attacks.

"The guard is up. We are on alert. We are ensuring that our LoC should be safe," said a senior Army officer, manning the area of operation in Nowshera sector which falls opposite to Bhimber - one of the sites across the LoC targeted during the anti-terror operation on September 28 night.

Terror attacks in France a global intel failure – parliamentary inquiry

French intelligence bosses admitted the recent terror attacks in France were a “global intelligence failure,” a parliamentary inquiry has said, advising to unite the country's numerous intelligence services into a national counter-terrorism agency.

 

The commission on terrorism was set up after the Paris terror attacks on November 13, 2015 which killed at least 130 people. On Tuesday, it unveiled its findings to the French media. The full report requested by the conservative opposition Republicans party, is expected to be released later on Tuesday.

A team of militants linked with Islamic State were paid 600,000EUROS to carry out a bombing campaign at 50 locations in Tehran and other big cities in Iran, according to a documentary aired on Iranian state TV on Monday.

Officials in predominantly Shi’ite Iran have said in recent weeks that Sunni militants from Islamic State are targeting the country.

Belgian judge extends detention of Abrini, five other Paris attacks suspects

A Belgian judge ruled to extend by one month the detention of six suspects being held in connection with the November 13 attacks in and around Paris, which claimed the lives of 130 people.

The judge’s decision was announced in a communiqué from the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office on Thursday.

Mohamed Abrini, 31, who is also under investigation for suspected links to the March 22 suicide bombings in Brussels, is among the suspects being held.
