Lionel Messi announces Argentina players will not interact with media for ‘disrespect, accusations’

Lionel Messi and his Argentina teammates will boycott the media because of accusations made against striker Ezequiel Lavezzi.

“We’re here to say that we are not going to speak anymore with the press,” Messi said after Tuesday’s 3-0 victory over Colombia in World Cup qualifying. “We receive a lot of accusations, a lot of disrespect. The accusations against Lavezzi are very serious.”

The boycott stems in part from a report by an Argentine journalist that Lavezzi smoked marijuana during the team’s training camp.

Women in Argentine protest at alleged rape, murder of girl

Rape-murder of girl,Argentine ,

Women across Argentina protested gender-related violence on Wednesday after a murder and alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl in a coastal town last week.

The group known as Not One Less organised the protests, which were also called in other Latin-American countries, and expressed outrage over the death of Lucia Perez in Mar del Plata as Argentina confronts a scourge of drug-related violence.

Recent polls show security has replaced inflation as the top concern for Argentines, and Perez’s case has spurred particular outrage.
