SAITM issue: GMOA holds emergency meeting today
The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) is currently holding a meeting of its Central Committee to plan the steps to be taken on the decision regarding the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM).
GMOA Media Spokesman Dr. Samantha Ananda told the meeting would commence at 10.00 am and all its branch unions around the country would meet to hold discussions.
The SAITM is legally eligible to issue medical degrees to the students, the Court of Appeal ruled on Tuesday. The Appellate Court also directed the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) to give provisional registration to medical students passing out from SAITM.
