Mawbima Wenuwen Ranawiruwo requests President to pardon soldier
The Mawbima Wenuwen Ranawiruwo organization is appealing to the President to pardon the former army soldier who has been convicted for killing several civilians in Mirusuvil during the war period.
Convener of the Organization Major Ajith Prasanna requests the President to grant Presidential pardon to former Staff Sergeant Sunil Rathnayake, who was ready to give up everything for the sake of his motherland and sacrifice his life, in view of the upcoming Independence Day.
Rathnayake who was found guilty for killing eight civilians in Mirusuvil, Jaffna was sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court in June, 2015.
The civilians were reported murdered while they were visiting to inspect their abandoned houses in Mirusuvil in Thenmaraadchchi division in December, 2000.
