No sooner Dhanush makes his entry into the screen, it begins to gather all the momentum needed. With all stars already characters established, what Soundarya had to do was to ensure that she replicates the mass elements and commercial success formula of the first part. And buoy she does it well to ensure all are there.

Dhanush as Raghuvaran is tailor-made and he proved it in the second part too. His street smart attitude, humour and intelligence are well retained. He does it with improvisations that go down with the masses well. He spells energy in every frame. The innocent acts of Raghuvaran win our hearts.

A powerful hero demands an equally powerful baddie. Here proves her worth in Kajol. Her body language and mannerisms suit the role well. After a long time, one gets to see a woman playing such a powerful character with grey shades. Her encounters with Dhanush makes it a great watch.

Kajol as arrogant Vasundhara steals the show. As an independent, bold and self-made woman, she is right there delivering her best.

Samuthirakani as Dhanush's dad pulls it off in style. The caring dad has wins hearts of all. Vivek with his one-liners brings the roof down. Of course there is Thangapushpam comedy in it too. Saranya is simple and sweet.Amala Paul plays Dhanush's wife and looks the best draped in saree.

In a nutshell, the movie is about Raghuvaran incurs the wrath of an influential and rich owner of a construction firm Vasundara (Kajol). Annoyed by his name and fame, her choses pin him down by offering a job in her company. When Raghuvaran denies citing self-respect, all hell breaks loose. She plays all dirty politics forcing him to quit his job and go back to friends.

Meanwhile Dhanush floats a construction firm on his own and manages to get a big project. But sadly he finds that the building will have to come up on loose soil. So he decides not to take it up. As an act of revenge, Vasundahara takes opts for it. Their rivalry now takes a different route.

The writing of Dhanush adds to the grandeur. It has punches packed at right places. The screenplay is pacy too. Technically the film is rich. Cinematography by Sameer Thahir is clean, clear and bright. Editing by Prasanna GK us crisp and sharp. Soundarya deserves a pat for using VIP franchise well and getting things to a new height. VIP sequel is engaging entertaining and fun to watch. Must for Dhanush fans.

Verdict : VIP2 - Three cheers to Raghuvaran
