Chennai city police today filed a petition in the Egmore Metropolitan Magistrate Court seeking five days' custody of woman techie killer Ramkumarfor interrogation.
The petition was expected to come up for hearing laterin the day.

In order to take the investigations in the case to next level and to gather sufficient evidences against Ramkumar, the Nungambakkam police has filed a petition seeking five days' custody of Ramkumar, who was arrested from his home town of Seknottai near Tenkasi in connection with the killing of young woman techie Swathi at a railway station here on June 24.

Meanwhile the identification parade of Ramkumar was held at Puzhal Central Prison where he was lodged.

The parade was conducted in the presence of Metropolitan Magistrate Shankar who recorded the proceedings.

He was deputed by Egmore Chief Metropolitan Magistrate J Chandran.

After the parade, Shankar said he could not reveal the details and the results of the parade now, as the case was still under investigation.

He said the report would be sent to the Judge in a sealedcover.

Police sources said the eyewitnesses included Swathi's father, her friends, the watchman of the mansion in which Ramkumar had stayed in the city and Sivakumar, a petty shop owner from Nungambakkam Railway station, who was witnessto the murder.
